Our test of the realms server is going well.
We're now 24 hours in and quite a lot of bugs have been squashed, we're moving rapidly towards having enough in-game functionality for the release.
There's been quite a few questions asked over again, so I thought I'd pop up a quick post with some answers for those of you who want to know what's going on.

Q: What is World of Minecraft Realms, and why isn't there anyone around when I sign in?
WoM Realms is a new concept in minecraft servers, where you get to host your own World of Minecraft realm. Where you get to be the boss, and choose who can be a member of your realm and help you build, and who can be admin of your realm and help you moderate.
Most of the other people on the server when you sign in are out on other realms helping with community projects, or building on their own realms. Use global chat (put in a "=" sign as the first character of your message) to say "Hi" and ask what everyone is up to.
Everyone who logs into World of Minecraft Realms gets their own realm to do with what they will. You can build a small house to retire to when you've finished going out and helping with larger community projects, or you can decide to start a community project of your own, on your own realm and try to get people to participate.
How successful you will be depends on how good you are as an owner, and how well you treat your employees.
Q: The map is quite small, can we get bigger maps?
Yes, bigger maps are available as you progress in rank and reputation on the server. The first upgrade occurs when you register for membership. Your map will double in height. The next upgrade occurs when you progress to builder status, your map will quadruple in size from the member map.
Q: I have a clan or group that I want to find hosting for, do you offer clan hosting?
Yes, this is one of the features we will be offering very soon. For a very nominal monthly hosting fee (starting at $2/month for a 128x128x64 map), we will allow you to operate a clan realm on our servers. You will be able to define additional non-community version restrictions on who can join the realm, who can build, and use commands.
Q: A feature that I really need is missing from your commands, will it ever be available?
We're continuing to develop the software currently, and the planned functionality will take a while to flesh out. It's a good chance that the command you want is still not complete. If you're concerned, hit us up about it and we'll let you know.
Q: Why will I need to sign up AGAIN? I'm already a member on World Of Minecraft.
The new signup is for the management of your realm. World of Minecraft Realms membership includes a web-based management portal, which allows you to see your realm's access list, upload and download maps, change realm names, put in place welcome messages, policies, view automatic realm backups and review your realm's chat history.
Since your World Of Minecraft account does not link up your account to your minecraft username securely, we felt it was better to have a separate user database.
Q: I have a question that's not in here?
While technically a statement, the answer is "Ask and we'll do our best to answer you."
Finally, I'd just like to thank the many people who have helped with the testing and made suggestions on improvements and new ideas. We're going to do our very best to make a platform for the best minecraft community ever, one that is built from the ground up to be what you want to make of it.

...and it may very well eventually be a good idea. However, i wasnt pleased with my short expierience in there today. Not pleased with only getting 3 days to get started on the other server before it was taken down... again... Not pleased with starting from scratch for the 3rd time in the 6 days i have been a builder... which reminds me, im also not pleased that my builder status was removed and im forced to prove myself yet again. Maybe i will enjoy it more when more of the people i worked with start showing up again and we can go back to collaborating, but for now i think im just going to step back and wait for more of the bugs and details to finish being worked out.

To get ranks after member u have to keep, keep, building! Building in this server will help u rank. so build away :)

To all you people out there who are mad about losing your builder status, DO NOT worry! I know it was hard to acheive and all but look on the bright side. With this new server you can use /fill and other commands in your own realm plus you have an entire map top to bottom for your own!
Overall you should stop complaining and just re-earn your ranks. I mean, World of Minecraft isn't all about ranks, it's about having a good time with friends (and/or family).

I don't really care but it's sort of funny how I was a designer in the servers before World of Minecraft split and the server before realms was made. When I started in the servers before realms, I got demoted to builder which I think was a mistake because I had done nothing wrong. Now I'm just a member lol. Like I said, I don't really care I'm just sad I have such a small map :(

1- how to add someone to my realm?
2- how to know all the ranks?
3- is there localchat and global chat?
Wish the chat wasn't overwhelmed with all the rows about $PLAYER joining/exiting. 4 lines aren't even enough at that speed.

I hope the other char doesn't need to be online and in the same realm, because then they can try to login while i'm out and do whatever they want on my realm :)
Wish we could control the list of ranked chars directly from the website. But I guess you're already working on it.
edit: after the 10th time of different combinations it finally accepted it

even for who is not currently inside the realm. I wonder why it KEPT not to work when I needed it.

I think that "none" has to be "None", as the server is case sensitive!

The Realms server is lagging everybody out, may be something to do with the global chat. Please try and fix it ! XD

I was an architect before THAT HAPPENED. After that, you removed previous rank system, reseted everything. I was thinking about transfering my project to realms( I know admins have power to do that), but it's too big for current map. And I have to start it ALL OVER AGAIN to get higher rank so I could get bigger map, and so I could transfer my real project and continue on it?! And the current command system is just awful. I miss lots of commands I was used to have. I hope you will fix it soon. On the bright side personal space is the best thing that could happen in World of Minecraft. It's just that it happened in the different way I expected.

I was an architect too (Albeit in the other World of Minecraft). So I've seen you guys shrink the old rank system, failed to give us architects a rank with similar permissions, and and clumped everyone as builder.

There is no way this can be considered a finished product by any means. Only now its the community that is finally getting a chance to test it. At least i HOPE this is still just a test.
Was this even announced anywhere? I know it was a surprise to me. An unwelcome one at that, and reading up i see that i wasnt the only one to feel that way. Like i said before, playing for 6 days and having to start over 3 times is very frustrating, and the idea of getting a bigger map when ranking up just throws that off even more.
My projects use lots of space, and the idea of starting with a very small space, filing it, then getting more space that i will then have to adjust to fit my theme, doesnt flow well.
Id much rather just stick with a large community map, or maybe just smaller community themed realms apposed to the giant uber map of unnecessary sprite art clutter. there could be an entire sprite art themed realm or something. Nature themed ones, city themed ones, space themed ones (where the map is set to night time or something... for space), all kinds of themes where people can still collaborate.
Allowing people to build in your realm does not count as colaaboration to me, as everyone will just want to stay in their own realm anyway. There is no sense of community this way.
It feels so spread out and lonely. Isolated even. a far cry from my first impression of a wonderful colorful community when i first joined. The community aspect has been reduced to fussy chat options and everyone staying on their own little islands.

Im pretty sure alot of people have had this problem before...But when i go to join into World of Minecraft realms it stays on the connecting page,I would really like to be in the realms.I heard it was really cool in ther.
