I currently run Minecraft on my Mac laptop comp, and it runs with just a little lag, but I decided to switch to my desktop computer to help kill some lag. When I go to play Minecraft, however, it just has a loading screen that ends saying "Switching Applets" and then it goes black. I've let it sit for quite a while, but it is still black. Help?
My desktop is a Dell i bought in 2002 (I know, old) and it runs Windows XP home, and so far it works most games with minimal lag (It, surprisingly, runs TF2 on Steam without a problem, along with most others)

Same thing here. I just reloaded my computer with xp again cause i was having some troubles and it worked fine on that computer for months. Now i reload it and it does the switching applets and then goes black. Please help.

If you open your Java console, or enable it to open during the loading of Minecraft, you'll most likely get an error on it trying to load a .jar file.
Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread"
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Can't load library:
C:\Users\De\AppData\Local\Temp\\minecraft.net\Minecraft_infdev\natives\lwjgl.dll
This is why you guys see the black screen after "switching applet."
You must go to that file and delete it or the whole Minecraft folder in the /Temp folder.

Hi,
I'm on a HP EliteBook 8530p.
I've tried to start the Alpha in both browser mode and download mode, but when I start it the load screens won't stop loading, ergo I can't play the game. Any suggestions?
Also, when I try the classic version I only get a black screen.

It's a fix for the black screen issue.
I replaced the files as it's said in the video tutorial and now I can play again. :)

It works on Windows too because the game is multiplatform. I don't know why the user who uploaded the video to YouTube thought it will only work on Mac, but, at least, it works on Windows too. I guarantee it. I've Windows 7 and it works for me.
You can find the files you have to replace in %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin/ Just enter this path on the adrees bar of windows explorer and you'll go directly to the folder. Then replace de original files with the downloaded ones.

We purchased this game in hopes of being able to access and play it off line. We are unable to even figure out which program to open it in.

If you arent sure which program to open it with, right click on it, click "rename" and name it "minecraft.exe" (without quotes). that should get it running, now back to the black screen.. :(
minecraft works on my home pc, but it doesnt work on my work pc, or my laptop, and i did the same install on all 3 PC's on the same day.
If I figure out why its doing this i will surely let you all know.

I have re-installed minecraft on my work pc and my laptop (the ones that werent working in my above post) and got them to work :D
Heres What i did:
Uninstall Java completely, and delete .minecraft folder in appdata(Start -> run -> %appdata% -> click OK) keep your saves if you want ;), then restart your PC.
Re-install Java (Offline install! - online install didnt work), then restart your PC again.
Go into minecraft and let it download new version, copy tour saves back into appdata, and all should be well.
NOTE: i dunno if all the PC restarts are necessary, but i tried everything before this so just go with it :P
NOTE2: This procedure worked on 2 completely different PC configurations (one notebook, and one desktop), so hopefully it works for you :D

I only use in browser. I went to play it, it loaded, then the screen went black. then a little flag appeared with a message in the bottom right area of my screen, saying "Solve PC issues: 1 message" I went to it and it said that I need to address a problem with java and it has stopped working 1 time, I tried it again and it just said 2 times. the Problems ? Texture packs..!! Yes texture packs...you heard right... t e x t u r e P a c k s ......I deleted the texture packs from the mine craft folder my daughter had downloaded and voila... minecraft now works....so any one having these problems try deleting your texture packs you may have got a bad one....
