Advice needed here. Probably a simple mistake but I am failing to get any mods to download and install property. -

Everytime I carefully read the readme, install long lists of needed componants like modloader, modloadermp and audiomod, and then the mod itself; using winrar to put everything in the minecraft.jar.

Then I delete the metainf, if it's there, start the game and get black screen after logging in.

I run xp, have the latest service pack and .net thing etc.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

This has happened with three different mods with different authors and good feedback, so I'm sure it's me not them!
