Blank screen on mac, can't run...

Here's the problem step by step... Also I'm using a Mac, when I played this game on my PC it worked fine.
I open up the game, click on the free version, (haven't bought the full game yet, I intend to but only if I know I can make it work,) and there's just this blank screen. About one in ten times that I refresh the page the Minecraft logo pops up for a mili-second, then it's just blank again. Also I just refreshed it again, and it flashed white then went blank again, so it's not always the logo that flashes up.
I've left it open for about 10 minutes now and nothing's happening, so I'm pretty sure it's not just loading things. Also I'm pretty sure I have the updated Java.
If you think you can help me out, please explain it in a language I can understand, or explain it step by step if it requires the use of tech-speek. I use computers all the time and I'm of a generation stereotyped to knowing how to use them, but my knowledge only goes so far.
Also I think there's a picture of the blank screen (just to help you visualise lol), and in the top right corner you may see I queried how to take a picture of the screen on a Mac, so you might be able to deduce I'm pretty new to the thing :L And pressing B seems to do nothing :(
