cant use minecraft classic on mac?

so i have heard a lot of stuff about not being able to work minecraft on the mac.i had this same prblem so i did some research if this is happening to you do so:
when it would be loading the sever and its just a black screen do shift alt.
then still holding shift alt drag the java applet away from the black screen.
when it pops back into place when you let go stop and it should start to load.
this does have one downside though when you try to place blocks it will destroy not place.
to avoid this when you are going to place it hold ctrl as you click.
