After looking into the Moderator Applications, the Owners and Executives find that hand selecting builders who are helpful to the community produce superior Moderators than having to run through the process of applying. This was noticed when Moderators lacked the maturity and responsibility to handle their position of power. We also realized that our most effective staff was our Architects, whom we pick now via their actions in-game.
As stated above, we are already hand picking our Architects. Even though they have absolutely no obligation to help the community, they spend most their time doing so. The commitment shown by own Architects is something we value and what we would like to see in our moderators. Although we will be using the same process, the qualities we are looking for will vary.
- 1. No longer do you have to apply to become a Moderator. If you show the qualities that show you are the right person for the position, you will be marked for Moderator without having to do a thing, but act normal.
2. No need to ask for a World of Minecraft staff members to look at your application. You will be noticed without even asking!
Note: Asking will only decrease your chance of becoming a moderator.
3. Moderators will be far superior to our existing ones.
The qualities that will be looked at are not going to be clearly listed here. The people that are deemed mature enough to handle the job will not need to act out of the norm to prove themselves. Acting normal is what we are looking for. If you are reading this and wondering if you are being noticed, recap on the actions you have taken in the server.
Please be patient as we fully convert over to this method. Asking anything to the effect of "When will this system be put in-place" is not quickening the process.
Thanks,
World of Minecraft Staff
It seems more mod's will have more responsibility. :D. What does it mean when this line is said "3. Moderators will be far superior to our existing ones." In which way are they going to be more superior >:D
Don't worry Aris we aren't saying all our mods are crap :) It's just that, in the past, the old system has led to the promotion of some fairly incapable mods whom have been since demoted. Now the choosing of mods is based on our initiative alone so hopefully only the most capable players will become mods. I think the fact that you're no longer a mod but an op is an indicator of what we think of your abilities :)
Hmpf.
That stinks...
Nobody wanted to look at my application,
I asked Fenixfurion to do it,
He said okay, but he needed to ask one other person.
It didn't happen...
Blargh.
So, not even the applications that are still unreviewed?
I mean, Can't you finish the job?
When I put my mod app in, I never asked for anyone to check it.
Willempie, that attitude right there is hardly the kind of thing we look for in a mod. It's not that your application hasn't been looked at, it's that we have not yet made up our minds. And I would suggest that by writing what you just wrote, you have made our decision somewhat easier.
So Mods Are Now Selected Through Game?
I can't count the amount of times that someone goes "Check my mod app" or "OP please" or "Can I have (insert rank here.)" It gets tiresome.
:D
Seems as though becoming a mod will require a bit more effort (which is a good thing).
