So I know they are already kind of apart of the community but they're unused. If you don't know what I'm getting at (http://gyazo.com/24d9c8a5bb20b24b36ac64f0a710b383). Those are in ways flares but they are mostly unused, maybe the SG/HG rank should take over the PvP slot? But the last thing I was thinking was a badge system, where you can try to collect them for doing various things in the community other then just posting to the fourms. Like doing things in game like getting all the acivements? Or 'Mayor' of a town with 10+ people stuff like that.
I vote yes!
This sounds awesome. It wouldnt necessarily be "staff" but more of an active and prestigous member type thing.
I think it'd be cool to have an awards system for users who've done stuff in the community. If we did (hypothetically) implement some system like that, what awards would you guys like to see?
what awards would you guys like to see?
I agree with fish's idea, the mayor one. Maybe one for building something nice on the server? Maybe called builder or something? Contributing to spawn could be one.
See, i'd like to say I had more stuff to suggest, but no.
Oh and contest winners.
Yeah there are tons of of things you could do this with, it's open ended! Thats whats so great about it!
But @Sonardo a way to gain a /warp would be getting that 'badge' since there is not much other way to reward people for achiveing that.
But other type of badges could be based off how long you've been in the community, you could also even do badges based on the karma on your posts like "Good poster" and such. But can't really think of too many on the spot but hey thats what the community is for eh?
Ideas that come to mind for me are:
- Popular community members
- Long-time community members
- Contest winners
- Players with a track record of being helpful
- Players with large amounts of money on the server(?)
- PvP winners?
I reckon we could probably fit little coloured things under the little bar thingy that you see under your forum title.
But how would popular members be decided? If people look up to them, or if they make popular builds, or if they are just a very well known player?
Probably players that are well-loved and notable for their kindness.
Well as 'popular' I think of it as he/she knows everyone. But not just knowing everyone being nice and never causing any problems?
Another one that recently came to mind was "Designer" (The people who design skins)?
A badge system doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. But only if they're completely useless other then to look cool
Some idea for badges:
hours logged on server
length of World of Minecraft membership.
traveling really far from spawn.
killing x number of each mob
Add a command like /helpful so after X number you get a badge
number of blocks placed
/epic or something to vote someone's build as amazing. X votes for a badge
number of diamonds collected
pvp kills/wins
most money/over X amount
could do levels for each badge (bronze, silver, gold)
@PointyStic: Great idea's man :D thanks for contributing :)
so "Worker" might be a good badge after a certain amount of jobs have been completed
Edit: "Fisherman"after certain amt of Fish caught
Edit2: Oh :/
so "Worker" might be a good badge after a certain amount of jobs have been completed
I don't think we'll be able to track that. We need to be able to track certain statistics in order to give out badges like that. Anything from the Statistics window from Minecraft will work, as those are all saved server-side in 1.7
I always thought the the profile page looked a little sparse. Also, since achievments are per server and server wide you could ave badges for people who have completed everything?
Completing everything?
all i say is i might get most of any new bage that will be on and the only person with the farest from spawn bage
Well if they are implemented they should be based off the 1.7 map and not previous maps. Also if any support from mods/admins to get the badges shouldn't be allowed.
Edit: @Kaylah Do you think linking "how to on throwing knifes" is something to link in a family friendly community?
Realms nostalgia
guest - New to the server
builder - Placed a total of (insert number here) blocks
Worker - Mined (insert number here) stone blocks
Technician - Helpful to people/kind to people
Architect - placed a total of (higher # than builder) blocks
Constructor - Placed a total of (higher # than arch) blocks
Engineer (Thanks Sonardo) - Mods n ' stuff
Staff - Staff <WM> :D
Edit:
I found a wild <WM> in his natural habitat http://imgur.com/gAT4Acm,4J8y5uo,YTIo3GW#2
Whatchu talkin bout Captain Goal?
@Captain_Goal You peasant, gold was Engineer and it was obtained by having one billion rep. D:<
Ahh nostalgia everywhere!!!!
Ahh realms, I remember the days :')
Also, how about a badge that is given by a vote somewhere on a good build? Like 100 votes gets you the badge. I don't know, just a thought
The voting would be a bit weird and I could see people not giving enough care to go vote.
Would it be possible to get these badges in-game? If I do get one, i think it'd be cool to stick it on my house or something :P
Maybe for some badges...
Noob: Join the server
Runner: Run 10k blocks
Builder: Place 300 blocks
Miner: Mine 100 blocks
Crafter: Craft 100 things.
Maybe these could be like achivements and broadcasted in chat and yhou get an item?
Ender dragon egg badge :O
Achievement get!---Eat the Ender Dragon Egg!
You could give named items to the people for badges? Something with no use to people but could be a nice badge saying look at my badge collection!
Well, if we're having all these badges, maybe we would want some sort of a webpage for each player that showed all the badges earned?
I thought they would be shown where the pickaxe, helmet and sword are?
@Lock: Thats what I thought would work best.
But if we get all these different badges added, they won't all fit in the space where the current badges are.
This is true but there is many ways to go about it. Maybe your top badges show? Or your most recent ones.
Or maybe you could choose your favourite 3?
That could also work. So many ways to do it eh?
WoM Coins: 455
Yes, just yes.
I think badges for doing things in the community is such a good idea.
