Error: Failed to Run Minecraft

I downloaded the program, I have the correct Minecraft.jar file (seeing as I bought the game) and I'm pretty sure my Java is up to date. I'm still getting an error saying, "Failed to run minecraft." I have Windows 7 32Bit.
Any help would be absolutely lovely, thanks :D
