Having trouble hosting a SMP Server

Hey,
So, I have searched and haven't found anyone that has a similar problem as me. Basically, I can host a server and can access the server using the external url and playing through the web browser.
But, when I want to play SMP, it says that my it can not connect and that the connection timed out. I have port forwarded 25565, I have disabled all firewalls, I have tried everything I can think of!
