My son is using mine craft 1.6.2..
Are there any updates for that version?
He was watching a video on you tube were they had a giant mods mod and other features that his version don’t have, how are those extra features installed..

Something to know about Minecraft is there are millions of different things in the modding side of the game. There are also servers providing a totally different experience when playing. I sugest joining the server smp.womjr.com it's the server behind this fourm if you're looking for something new :)

and luikes to experiment with new aspects of the game I would suggest trying a modpack called feed the beast. There are many different versions for different kinds of players with different features. Understand mods and modpacks are seperate from the actual game of minecraft and simply add content and features.

Mods can be found around the internet, but be careful where you download them! Minecraft mods are a common way to transfer viruses. Here is an official minecraft mod forum.

A step by step guide to install mods:
1. Download the magiclauncher client
2. Download the mod you want.
3. Go into your start menu and type %appdata%. A file named roaming will pop up.
4. Click on the file named roaming.
5. Click on the .minecraft folder.
6. Place the mod you want in the mods folder.
7. Open magiclauncher.
8. Click setup.
9. Click the add button and double click the mod you want.
10. Press OK
11. Enjoy your new mod!!!
