Hello, I present to you today a issue that I've been having for awhile now. When ever I try to join my minecraft server(whether I try direct connect, "localhost", without quotations of course, or my IPv4:25565) I am never able to connect to it. I have sucessfully port-fowarded my minecraft and checked the port. I have then set the server.ip to the IPv4, and left the port to it's default. Turning Windows firewall and avast off doesn't seem to help me either. Regardless of whether or not I have a server.ip set doesn't matter either, and yes, I do have online set to true in the server properties. So lets check everything off that I've done.

Port-forwarded and checked the port and it was working.

The server created the files as normal and I tried both default settings and changed settings.

I was able to sucessfully allocate 5gigs to the server.

online mode is set to true, and whitelist is set to false.

When ever  I try to join I get this:

"[INFO] Disconnecting /192.168.1.101:14929: Protocol error

 [INFO] /192.168.1.101:14929 lost connection"

Any help would be appreciated.

Using localhost as the IP will only work if the server is being hosted on the computer that is playing Minecraft.

If you are on the same network as the server but are not on the same computer, you need to use the internal IP of the computer.

That being said, check for which version of bukkit you're running. (assuming you're running Bukkit. If you aren't, you should)

Look for something along the lines of

[INFO] This server is running CraftBukkit version git-Bukkit-x.x.x-Rx.x (MC: x.x.x)

The (MC: x.x.x) part is important. That is the Minecraft version the Bukkit is for. If that number is different than the one you're using, switch then try again.

p.s. I'm tired so I apologize for sub-par explanations

I am indeed running the server from my own personal computer because it's only going to be me and a few friends, and I did use my internal IP address both in the port-forward and as the server ip. I guess I'll give CraftBukkit a try and hope that it works better. Thanks for the help so far!

Sucess! I'm not sure what's different about Bukki, but it worked on the first try! Thank you so much Yenwood, it's people like you that make the world a special place.

A new issue.

Hello once again, My new issue is about 256+ pixel resource packs. I have allocated 5gigs of ram to my minecraft game, and I have two Raedon HD 7770 graphics chips in cross fire to back that up, but I can't load a resource pack that has 512x512 pixels in it. Is there any reason to this or?

I have 20 gigs of installed ram btw.

Why would you want to view minecraft in HD anyway... that's what the outside world is for

I would say you are either

I would say you are either not saving the resource packs correctly in the folder, or you have not set java up to run through the video cards. Many video cards require you to specifically add Java to their list of programs that access the video card. Otherwise java is running mostly through your CPU with no support from the video card which significantly limits java's capacity to render images. If you configure it correctly, then you should be able to run more detailed resource packs and have an overall higher FPS for the game.

PvP isn't allowed outside. And no creative.

Do you have McPatcher or Optifine? You'll need one of those to get a resource pack that HD.

Sorry I haven't replied, I've

Sorry I haven't replied, I've been extremely busy with things lately.

Anyways,

"Why would you want to view minecraft in HD anyway... that's what the outside world is for" .

I am a construction worker, I see the outside for 8 hours a day as I work in it so I'm good, ;) but I do love pushing games with limited graphics to it's limit. I've always loved tweeking and optimizing games for an improved experience.

No, I'm afraid I don't, but I will go ahead and get Optifine because I know you can use it for shade effects also. I was able to get the 256x256 resource pack to work anyways, but it took awhile to load it. Figuring the 512x512 texture pack would do the same, but probably double if not triple the time.

I'll share my results after I'm finished modding, optimizing, editing, what ever you wish to call it, my game.

I did not know this and will look into it more. I had around 80 FPS for the game with the 256x, but it just took awhile to initially load the game's menu.

Interesting, but disappointing.

Well with optifine it took a total of 2 minutes (roughly) to load the 512x texture pack, and it then ran at 40 FPS with only 5 gigs allocated, but the graphics were so good for the blocks that it made them look surreal. lol

Here is some more pictures.

Here is a link to three more.

The first picture on the left is pretty good. It shows the suns glare, and shadows at the suns current position in the sky.

The second photo is your own characters/toons reflection.

The third is the changed water, and the reflection on the water itself.

I'll be honest with you, I love this shader pack, but Sonic Ether's shader pack by far blows all the others out of  the water. The only reason I don't have it installed is because it isn't up to date for 1.7.2.
