It all depends on what you plan on doing with your server. Generally, the more plugins you have, the more RAM you need - especially for beefy plugins like mcMMO and DynMap. Not considering extra beefy plugins, we suggest 256MB of RAM for every 5 players. Keep in mind though, a lot of the time you can fit even more players than we suggest - it's all about balancing your plugins and players!

A general guideline for utmost stability..

5 players: 256MB RAM

10 players: 512MB RAM

15 players: 768MB RAM

20 players: 1024MB RAM

40 players: 2048MB RAM

80 players: 4096MB RAM
