I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and have been unable to successfully remain connected to a multiplayer game when I connect to a External Server. Don't have any issues playing locally or via a LAN multiplayer game.
Once I connect to Multiplayer external server I get "minecraft connection lost internal exception java.net.socketexception software caused connection abort recv failed", sometimes straight away or within 10-20 seconds.
Specs
- Minecraft 1.5.2
- 4 Gig Memory
- 64bit Win 7 Pro
- Java 64 1.7.0_21 (also tried various levels including 32bit)
- Running AVG Antivirus / K9 / Win Firewall (but have uninstall/turned off and get the same error)
- Nvidia Video card running latest Win 7 64 bit drivers and tried integrated video card and also get same error.
- was running successfully on Win 7 32 bit and XP 32 bit (other PC's in house not on 64 bit working fine)
Tried everything and searched for fixes, but can't locate. Hope someone has a few ideas I can try, other than going back to 32bit :-).
Can you suggest any test, that I can run to check ports? I have tested with firewall turn off and still got the same result.

its not that your using 64-bit cause im on a 64-bit windows 8 so its more or less your firewall blocking Java so make sure that the ports are open and that java is being allowed to pass your firewall
