Hello my name is Alex and I'm the complete opposite of a noob at minecraft -I've had it for ages and this is why I'm so annoyed - I can't figure out why minecraft isn't loading.

The other day I went onto my Minecraft Launcher and there was a new update available. I clicked 'Yes' to 'Do you want to update' and then the game just freezes on 'Downloading Packages.' I have tried almost everything I, and many other people with similrar problems have tried but nothing seems to be working. 

Here is a list of what I have tried:

-Deleting every single minecraft fle I can find including the .minecraft folder. (THREE TIMES!!!) And then reinstalling it again.

-One forum said to somebody else to change their password so I tried that and it didn't work.

- Downloaded MagicLauncher to see if that made a difference - it came up with an error.

- I have even tried clicking 'No' to the update but then it just gets stuck on 'Done Loading'.

The trouble is - because I have reinstalled minecraft so many times, the only files in .minecraft are the bin with a 'version' file in + a 'lastlogin.' So it is not possible to delete any 'REsources' folders or anything.

My laptop has 205 GB space remaining on it and usually I can play Minecraft on about 50-60fps. I have tried booting up Minecraft with more RAM - it still didn't work!!

I am getting really frustrated and so if anybody could try and help me I would be very grateful. Thank You in advance.
