I just downloaded minecraft on our Windows 7 computer (we have been playing on a mac for 6 months now). I am trying to add a MOD and cannot seem to open the minecraft.jar folder (it is only a binary file) THe instructions say I should be able to open it with winzip. I am afraid to delete the folder and try a reinstall...is that what I should do?
Way to not be helpful dan.
Try open it using 7zip or WinZip. Right click minecraft.jar and click "Open With..."
Don't be afraid to delete it, it's just the data Minecraft uses for things like items. It will re-update every time you open Minecraft. Try using a program like MagicLauncher to install mods.
you could use the multimc which allows you to have many .minecraft folders at once. for installing mods on that, all you gotta do is put it in the instmods folder and then done.
Another idea is you could use skydaz which is an automatic mod installer. http://skydaz.com
