With mod loader it's like Magic Launcher just click and drop.
Forge is a lot more harder to use.
I would recommend watching Youtube video's on how to add mods you want to play or play FTB sinc eit does it for you. :)

Something you could do to simplify the process is this.
1.) Download the magiclauncher client ver. 1.1.7
2.) Download the mod you want.
3.) Search %appdata% on your computer and click on roaming.
4.) Click on .minecraft and then click on the mods folder.
5.) Put the desired mod in.
6.) Open the magiclauncher and click on the setup button.
7.) Press the add button select the mod you want, and click open.
8.) Press save.
9.) Enjoy your mod!
(If it is a mod that requires either forge or Modloader, you will need to ask somebody else because I am still learning how to use those programs.)
