I have asked mrsnow for a new rank called veteran for people who have played in World of Minecraft for at least 1 year
It would give you /back and it would be called veteran if we can thank my comment here and get 20 + votes or more and some positive comments maybe snow will consider.

Certainly having recognition for those who have been part of World of Minecraft for longer than others is a good idea, but maybe not giving them bonuses which are too powerful, if it is deemed nessacary to give them bonuses at all.

Question: If we did add a new rank for teh older fellows, it shouldn't come with /back, there's a thing in Essentials Snow, in the config called "kits" You can add your own kits and even add it to pvp what a kit does is it gives u items by typing /kit (kit name) The kit will have a delay of how long per kit use for example: Let's say I used /kit member and then it will give me the items you put in the config, then if I wanted to spam the command to get so many items it will not let me it would say: You can't use that kit untill: (amount of time) If we added kits like that in PvP and maybe (this is just a idea) you could create lots of ranks and create it so that some of them (not all) cost money just like World of Minecraft Realms I helped a guy config this before so far he made 134$ and still moving on with more money. But acorse it's just a idea :)

2. The likelyhood of just 1 rank being added is still probably slim. No way a bunch of ranks with kits would get added. It's just not that kind of server.
3. The Veteran ranks will most likely come with no perks or commands, and just a title or possible different name color.
4. I'm sure MrSnowGlobe knows how to use essentials.

This is when I want to leave World of Minecraft but it is hard to, but I own my own server so I am not on the servers much only on the website so I'm fine it's just hard when you are a guest and you are trying to tell the staff that they are doing well but also needs to work on a thing, even a owner has to know new things, a staff and owner isn't a know it all, and neither am I, I am just saying that the community is becoming afraid of standing up for them selfs, and if we don't all treat them kindly, they will not come back nor tell there friends to come see us, we have a LOT of people in this comminity but... it use to be 50 a day and now it is 20 - 25 a day. I am not trying to be offensive but I am just standing up for everyone.

@Cartose If a moderator did sugar coat all their responses to the players then what would have? A dillustional player base. Staff need to say the things people don't want to hear or it would give people the idea they can go around telling people that these ideas would be considered but never added, you would be more let down. So take it all in stride becuase jupiters response wasn't meaning, just the trueth
@mgslymen99 I don't think participation is diminishing becuase of any real reason. Minecraft is slowly dieing, people go and play other games. There is a ncie wave of new games comign out this month, people have other things to do. Not to mention the fact our servers have been in testing to make sure they are stable as all hell.
Once we offer CMP and a few mini games, people will come back.

I don't know what you guys have been seeing but I am still seeing new people join this server everyday and we still have a peak of 20+ people on the SMP server at once and about 10+ on PvP. Granted this isn't all the time but we still have high peaks.
And cartose, how about you just go already? I know you have said you would go several times but you just can't seem to leave us. You have already tried to break our community several times and our staff are always annoyed with you. Maybe it is for the better of all of us if you walked away?

Veteran rank? Hmmm....
The idea in itself sounds alright but what is the point? Honestly?
It shouldn't be the staff thanking the players for sticking around it should be the other way round. And what good is a rank going to do anyway? Change the colour of our name? Sure some people might find it prestigious, being recognised as a veteran would give you a bit of power and perhaps make you a bit more popular but what are you ultimately going to get out of it? It's not like the staff are going to include a command with it, and if they did, I personally gaurantee it would get abused.
All in all, I do like the idea, I just think it's pointless and it's not likely it will be implimented anytime soon. Perhaps in the foreseeable future?

The /back command isn't really an issue in SMP but I'd Love to have it in PVP... Ex. You fall off a cliff, you go back and get your stuff. Say someone kills you, and they say you can have it back, easy as that? I don't see any potential problems as of what I see. Staff might see otherwise...

/back on smp only pvp is just abuse with that command but in my old smp server we had /back which was really useful if we needed to return to the nether or whatever

I thought /back was for returning to where you last teleported away from. I think that would be awesome to have, and isn't really an unfair thing as for me most of the time it would mean just not walking back to my store room when I run out of blocks.

A coloured name is all that needed.
It can be a very useful thing to have around in SMP/PVP. For an example; When we have 20+ or even 30+ players on SMP durning the holiday seasons. There like maybe only one or two staff on at the time. Then there about twelve or so players wanting or needing attention or asking question. A knowing "veteran" or oldie by his pretty coloured name, can be of much help and relieve for the staff. Another is at quieter times. With about a few players on and one staff but that staff need to go off line for alittle while for some reason, (It can & had happen.) then there at lest an oldie there to keep an eye out till he get back.
I think since a player been around a year or so can be somebody for a new player to approach with Q&A thereby leaving staff to more important things if busy.
An oldie should be of age and have access IRC so when a staff really need to pay attention to something happening the veteran can call out.
Don't want a veteran to get too popular, then call him an oldie.

I would say that Grimeton makes a great point, that this rank would be great for answering questions as they stand out a lot, but if were to be the case, it should be a rank where they actually have to be manually assigned, not just getting it for being here a certain amount of time. Otherwise you could get someone who knows next to nothing answering a load of questions incorrectly.

If this is implemented would the time be judged on how long you have been with the community overall? Like realms and the forums or solely based on how long ago you joined SMP.

If you think Veteran rank would be based on time on the forums and were to answer questions on the server then you are going to have a bad time. If anything, it would be based on time joined on the SMP server.

Yes but the "different coloured name" should be a pretty colour name, to attract the newbies & boobies away from the solid or average coloured names. Just like a moth that attracted to the candle (puff)!
As for answering questions on the server, Lunick is right and should be base on one experiences in playing. Most players usually ask things like; how to, or can I do, or is so and so, I'm starving and etc. The forums are great and all but experience in reading und writing is two things, playing in the server is something else. Theory and practice do go hand in hand though.
Anyway this is all speculation, none of this will probably ever happen.

I've been around from early on, haven't 'misbehaved', yet I'm not trusted.
Simply, I'm not on enough to be reliable, and the responsibilities I have on other servers means I would be skeptical about accepting it anyway.

Given the fact that /back will obviously not fly, what about private warps? I know that /home is like that, but there never seems to be enough slots. Also, younwill not be able to easily set a warp as you are falling off a cliff, are you? It could be for things such as finding where your stall in the market is.

@anyone else: About /back, if you really are too lazy to walk back to the building you fell off of and died, or too lazy to go back to your storage room (though I would love a /back for that, but thats still just laziness from me, and I have tons of it) then you really shouldn't be playing mc if you ask me. Every time you build high and don't have a way to get down, you risk death, instead of tping away. And about this veteran rank, it seems kinda pointless if you ask me. If someone didn't behave well enough to become Trusted, why do they deserve a different, slightly less powerful rank? Just my thoughts coming in.

It really doesnt cause any mischief to have /back it is very useful if you died and need to get your stuff back. Since this is SMP i dont see a way to abuse it, of course in pvp thats a whole different story.
Another cool thing we should get is /hat :D then we can wear grass blocks on our head which is the coolest thing ever ! :P

@Angry Your first sentence right there actually gives the reason to not give people that. Because if you could always go right to where you die, people wouldn't be careful at all, and the whole "survival" aspect of the server would be ruined.

The /back command shouldn't be added in SMP especially no PvP either. In SMP you can always have enderpearls and at the last second you can use it to save your life. (It has saved me a ton of times.) Also in PvP (If they would evern consider it which they wont) the should be no commands added casue people would run away. Example: You are running to someone a little far from spawn, then they use /back that would get you mad and it would be unfair.

I agree with Lunick, a forum rank would be more suited. Definitely... BUT, if a veteran 'rank' was really wanted on the server itself, why not just have some sort of 'veteran wall of fame' or something near the default spawn point?
Also, I don't believe that it should be a requirement to have played as a 'veteran' on SMP in particular, I think being a member of World of Minecraft in general would be fine, provided you actually PLAYED on one of the World of Minecraft servers, (World of Minecraft Main, Realms etc..)
While some people don't see the harm in a colour change, or even a title, I do. Giving 'veterans' recognition in that way will certainly make them feel more higher up, more popular and most of all more powerful. BUT, at the same time, it's going to make other people feel lesser, more un-important in the community. It brings on the whole 'elitist' issue we had on World of Minecraft Realms...
Everyone plays on a server because they want to build great things, they want people too like them so that they can become popular. I don't care if you don't want to admit it, you know it is true. It's true for almost all of us. Who honestly wouldn't want that? But it brings on a problem. If the most elite players, the most trusted, popular and most recognised players are of this 'veteran' rank, than what do the new players have to aim for? People want to be liked, people want to be the best. Not nessecarily in an elitist way, either. If the only way to be the best, is to not BUILD, not do what Minecraft is for, but to exist on the server for a specific amount of time, then I do not know what this world is coming too.
Lastly, sure, veteran ranked players would be able to help out when there are no staff online. Perhaps keep a bit of calm. But honestly... Respect on these servers comes from making an effort to be engaged in the community, to make friends and help people out. NOT from being on the server for a specific amount of time.
P.S; just an FYI call, one year is NOTHING. That is not VETERAN quality. Trifold that and you're good to go.
