Lately, it seems that every post on the forums has been getting one or two upvotes. This needs to stop.
The reason we have a points system is to show which users have both interacted with the forums a lot and received a lot of good karma, emphasising that they contribute to the community. Why else would the special user titles you get for reaching a certain points level be called Contributor and Epic Contributor?
But just upvoting everyone's posts doesn't contribute to anything. It only ruins the whole point because when it's done, everyone you upvote gets undeserved points. But, who gets the most undeserved points? You, the upvote spammer. And we know who you are - nobody's points naturally skyrocket like that.
This is not the first time we've had to say this to the users, but it will be the last. If I so much as suspect you of point-farming like this, I will personally contact you once. I will warn you once. After that, if you continue, I will simply disallow your forum privileges.
Hopefully this will discourage people from abusing a system that is meant to be fun for everybody.
Oh, and if you decide to ironically upvote everything in this thread, I will end you.

Quake, if you're referring to a thread in which staff "abused" their powers in order to make every comment amount to essentially the same thing, then clearly you don't know about World of Minecraft because we love to have a bit of a muck around every now and then. It's in the forum fun section, where I'm totally willing to have a mess around. This, however, is an actual serious thread and I have no intentions of not following through with the threats I've made. I want to make sure that not only you, but every user who comes on here knows that being selfish about points is not the kind of behaviour we want to encourage.
It's simply, if you'll forgive the vulgar language, stupid.

I like Awesomes idea, could work in like a karma type deal. If you upvote yourself you get negitive karma too much bad karma you can't vote? Or something aloung those lines.

I thought you really weren't supposed to upvote yourself at all, though. If a karma system is in place, then people will think it's alright to upvote their posts every now and then.
