Saving maps

I took a map from Omen070 but whenever I open it in World of Minecraft, I cannot fly and such. I read somewhere I have to save it first, then switch servers to that map.
Whenever I go to press save, one of these happesn
1. It says Connecting for a second then goes back to the menu
2. It says Connecting, Compressing, Saving (for a second), then back to the menu.
After each of these, I dont get my maps saved at all. What happened?
