Although a lot of players seem to think Shadowraze is just a noob-made server with only nine year olds and griefers playing, this isn’t the case. Shadowraze is actually a server filled with more fun than you would expect. Staff members are online nearly 24/7 helping people out and grief checks are amazingly easy to get. The map is extremely large and offers a wide variety of play styles. Best of all, the server is actually comprised of three (soon to be four) sub-servers. From the Shadowraze hub, a player may play on the capture the flag, PvP, main, and soon the roleplaying server.

A player’s journey starts off in a maze below the spawn area on the main server. This maze is used to teach new players basic information and commands relating to the server, and reduce the number of griefers. To get out of the maze, the player simply looks for clues around the maze, to find a secret word. The player then types “/word” (the secret word) and automatically teleports to the main server’s spawn.
Many experienced players hang about in spawn, to help new players when they first arrive; these players sometimes help others build and give out free houses.

In spawn, towns, arenas, events and other places can easily be accessed through the warp room.
Any member can create a town, worldguard it (stop it from being griefed, min. 100x100), create a warp in the warp room (which others can pay to use if you set a price), make the worldguard no-PvP and no-mobs, all for a total of $150k. This may seem like a lot, but through melon, carrot and potato farming, this amount can be made in about an hour.

The server has absolutely no lag, and runs Ddos protection. There are two thousand slots allowing for a large number of players to play at the same time, without any lag at all.
Server plugins include mcmmo, essentials and iconomy.

Perks such as flying, spawning of items and even world edit can be bought through the donator shop. These perks are permanent, unless the player is banned.

Overall, shadowraze is quite a player-friendly server. Staff can often help you out round the clock, while experienced players are very welcoming and will often give you a hand.

Tips for playing on Shadowraze:

• Use “/ch g”. This lets you talk in the global channel, avoiding talking to a lot of noobs in spawn, and unlike local chat (the default channel), which only lets you talk to players within 100 blocks of yourself, it allows you to talk to anyone anywhere in the channel.

• Use warps, don’t bother walking. Warps are the easiest and cheapest way to get around quickly. Don’t bother walking for miles from spawn to find a place to build. Warp somewhere and walk from there. There will usually be fewer structures built by others.

• When building your first house, build in a worldguarded town. This prevents griefers and can give you a lot of extra benefits. Although plots or houses can be quite expensive in some places, prices can be as low as $1k, which can be obtained in only about two minutes carrot farming.
