I downloaded the JohnSmith texture pack and followed all available
instructions for installing it.
C:/Users/User/AppData/roaming/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar, then opened
archive using 7zip and copied the texture pack folder into the .jar
folder. This didn't change the game. I realized that the pack was in
.rar form so I made a zip file and did the same, which didn't work
either. So, I tried just copying the individual file contents of the
texture pack folder into the .jar and this partially worked. The texture
appeared in-game, although only affecting the landscape. Unfortunately,
after about 3 minutes of playing the game crashes. I'm assuming this is
because the method I used was faulty. Any suggestions? I'm using
Windows Vista, and I am using the downloaded version of Minecraft.
Thanks.
