Hi
I have purchased Minecraft for Windows and am unable to install it on my Windows 7 laptop. The laptop has 1GB onboard NVidia graphics and 8GB RAM and oodles of free space. It has the latest version of Java installed (updated today).
I have tried downloading the installer, saving it and running it and have also tried running the installer directly from the download link. When I run it nothing happens at all. No messages are displayed and nothing appears in the Windows Application event log. My Windows account has admin privileges and I have tried running the installer with the 'Run as Administrator' option. No dice
Does anyone have any suggestions I might try to successfully install Minecraft, please?
Thanks!
Make sure you're using the official launcher. Minecraft doesn't have any installer other then the one build into the launcher
Also make sure you bought this from www.minecraft.net . Anywhere else is either a scam or pirated.
Depending on your security settings windows may also block the downloaded file.
If it has:
Right click the file and somewhere in properties there should be an unblock button.
Hello
Thanks for responding
I do have a legitmate copy of the link but when I double click it nothing happens.
Just to re-iterate
I have D/L the launcher from the site as described above
The file is about 600k
The file is not blocked
The email from Mojang has the following sources for D/L.

Happy playing,
Mojang.
However, starting the launcher does nothing at all.
Does Mojang have a support link? I could not see one for their company on the site. Instead, they direct queries here.
https://help.mojang.com/ is as good as their support gets...
Depending on your timezone I'm happy to teamviewer on to your pc on the weekend and have a looksie if you're comfortable with that.
Otherwise I'm a bit stumped.
Check to see if anything gets created in event viewer when you try and run it ?

Which installer did you use? The one from http://minecraft.net/download?
