Hello, sorry if this has already been posted but I couldn't find anything after having a quick look around.
I'm having a bit of a problem with the new 1.6.1 client for Windows. I downloaded the archive, removed the 1.5.9 version and extracted the files to a folder. I double-clicked the file named 'World of Minecraft' and pretty much straight away up pops an error titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" and the error itself said "Could not create the Java virtual machine."
I've tried updating Java, reinstalling Java, redownloading the archive and yes, I have turned my PC off and on again. The same result each time.
Any help / insight will be appreciated!

Guys, how much RAM Memory do you have free before you launch World of Minecraft Game Client?
The performance tab of Task Manager will provide you with answers.

Roughly 2.3GB.
Anyway, I followed gremlo114's suggestion (I'm running Windows 7 x64, so I used compatibility set at XP SP3) and it seems to be working fine. Thanks.

if you are using vista or windows 7 set the compatibility to windows xp to get it to work.
I had same issue then i fixed it
right click the exe and click compatibility
then set it to windows xp service pack 3 apply and you ready

im using windows xp and i tryed it on my other computer which has windows 7 and it worked fine without having to change any settings. does it not for for xp? and that thing u said didnt work for me.

I Have this same problem, i've downloaded it for the first time. I Then run it.. it works perfect first time. i close it.. and re-open it later to play again.. and i get an Windows error sound, but no message telling me what the error is. no matter what i do (re-install.. turn on and off PC) nothing works..

As I've said in the thread titled "World of Minecraft 1.6.1 not running", World of Minecraft isn't running on my computer. So, I tried running it in compatability mode for 2000, and I got this exact error.
I use Windows XP SP2-3.

yeah, it seems you can just change the compatibility mode to shake the java error, but now it just straight up wont run. as in, double click, wait, nothing happens.

I hope someone finds a fix for this soon. Anywhere I can redownload the old client? That one worked fine for me.

my World of Minecraft is doing fine but i loads 4 ever and i have an OLD computer y is mine working? And mine doesn't work in the other setting though.
