Hi, just a general question.
What exactly is the average age group of the players of Minecraft, and which audience age group is the game actually directed towards?

I'm 32 and started playing when I was 31. Games like this really have no certain age group, more like directed towards creative people. This and other games is a great way to wind down after a hard day in the military directing air traffic, or any job really.

I would say that there is no target audience age, the game is meant for anyone. But I think the majority of players are in the mid-teens, of course there are some very young, or slightly older players, but not as many.

I'm 41 years old, I love minecraft Exploring is one of my favorite things to do I also like helping and meeting other poeple.
We need to add a Poll to see what the Age ranges are.

As for age, there is no limits/restrictions for who plays minecraft. Me, I fit in the supposed average age "Mid-teens"

I was ,maybe, 6, when I started playing, and I still do. xD Im now 9, and I <3 minecraft! I really don't think mojang made an age group.

isn't that true of most games though. I would swear from just looking at the chat screen whenever i played warcraft, that the average age had to be preschool. lol

Minecraft is the type of game that's geared towards anyone regardless of age, race and profession. All they need to do is enjoy the sandbox genre of gaming and they're set to have a blast :)

Gonna have to agree with Skyara here.
This game can be for all age groups from young to old. One such evidence is the Standard Galactic Alphabet that is used when Enchanting items actually comes from a game called Commander Keen that was released in the 1990's. I'm not saying only they would recognise it but it is a cool thing to add as a nod to older gamers.

Im 22 and play this game. I was sitting at a baseball game and these 2 kids, literally kids in the seats in front of me had IPhones, and their screensaver was a creeper from Minecraft so
Im not sure of the "Majority" of the minecraft audience, like the one guy said maybe you should create a Poll at the top, and if there is no edit button we should make another post with a Poll.. maybe something like:
I am "3 - 7 Years old."
I am " 8 - 12 Years Old.
I am " 13-17 Years Old."
I am "18 - 21 Years Old.
You can make the ranges anything you want but just trying to give you an idea

I'm 30ish and play ;) Its too much fun and all my friends that game enjoy it also. Age is just a number. I've made some really great friends that are different ages because of it.

I think Mojangs prime audience is Jr. High cause, no offense to anyone, they have the most free time and will get addicted easiest....

The only thing that could make you want to be at least a pre-teen before playing would be on multiplayer, some servers allow less-than kind language to be typed

I've seen people that are about 50 who still play this game, i don't really think its focussed on anything
