I just got a sudden urge for roleplaying. >:)
The setting is 2012. Guess why.
Yup, the apocalypse just happened. A nuclear one. With radiation. And zombies. Lots of zombies.
So, the way this works is, I'll type up a setting, and give you guys the choice of what to do. There's only one rule: don't go too overboard. Randomly nuking the world isn't allowed (plus, that's already happened, hence the "nuclear apocalypse" thing.)
Let the games begin...
You are standing on the hard metal floor of your bunker, 30 feet underground. Shelves of canned food, fuel, and tools are pushed up against the walls. In the corner of the room is a ladder leading to the surface. On the far side of the room is a wooden workbench. A saw is leaned up against it, and on its surface rests a large radio. Static is leaking from its speakers, and the LCD display is flickering in and out of life.
You know that you have to leave this hole. Sooner or later, the food supply is going to run out, and you're already running dangerously low on water. However, you have no idea of what is waiting on the surface. The bombs started falling a week and a half ago. Perhaps the effects of the radiation have weakened with time? The radio surely won't tell you anything; it stopped broadcasting four days ago. It seems that your only options for escape are either journeying to ground level, or attempting to hold out a bit longer.
- what will you do? -
Find a grenade, pull the pin, put in mouth. End of story.
There were no peple at wallmart it was a mirage. So I walk in and see the shelves are almost untouched. So I take all the food off a shelf and dissasemble it. Then use the saw to cut a few peices. I would use these peices to make a small box with a latch. The box would be left at the nearest landmark. The box is filled with 1 can of pork and beans 2 cans of preserved fruits 3 bottles of water and 1 loaf of frozen bread. I then leave with my backpack full of anyother canned foods I have and as much water as I can bear to carry. As I open the door out of wallmart I come under what was a dug out hill.I find half the cave collapsed under itself. I look for the nearest opening. After I find one I crawl out of it. Without any gear I am defenseless so I scavange for any wood and metal scraps to build a small hut. My small hut is enough to hold me for a few nights. The next day I come across town square and look for the fountain....theres Always a fountain. I carve a hole in the middle of the fountain were the spout used to be and place the box inside and cover it with a stone slab. (to be continued)
you hear knocking at your door you grab the metal peice and go up to the door theres a group of survivors that are being chased by some cannibals but the thing is they look green and...... rotting you gasp as you think there zombies you let the survivors in the house and whack the zombies luckily it was a small group you tell the survivors to find wepons supplies and ammo oh and barricading items for defence of the house.
The posting is going great! In fact, I think I'll throw in what I would do:
After a quick scan of the food shelves, I grab a bag of rice, split it open, and empty the contents on the ground. Then, I tear a strip of material from my pants, and with a little bit of work, combine the two to fashion a crude backpack. After that, I grab a few cans of dried fruit and meat and toss them into the pack. Slinging it onto my back, I grab the saw and climb up the ladder.
When I reach the top, I lift the thick metal hatch a tiny bit and peer outside. The grass surrounding the hatch is a dead brown, and patches of dirt are smoldering in the aftermath of the nukes. What was my oak tree is now a charred stump. My house is a wrecked frame of wood and metal; none of my possessions are left inside, it appears. In the distance I hear ominous cries, similar to the mournful baying of wolves. The smell of decay is riding on the breeze, among other distasteful stenches.
Climbing out of the shaft, I clumsily point my saw at the blackened grass and rotting debris, just in case something decides to animate and eat me. Once I'm satisfied that the coast is clear, I head in the direction of the town hall, hoping to find other survivors........
"Tui you alright?" Benny said.
"Hey Benny! Sweet Mother of mercy, I haven't seen you for years, ever since high school! At a time like this?"
"Are you alright?" Benny asked, this time with a firmer intention. Tui hesitated.
"Yeah I'm fine," Tui said, "I was just onto town hall."
"Quickly, let's."
Tui nodded, and they hurried.
The landscape was littered with debris, burnt down buildings, and an air of rotten decay. It smelt of dismalness, devoid of life, empty. An old fire truck lay on its side, covered in moss, with a stench unwieldy. This place was truly where death had made its mark.
"It's up there," Benny said. "Past those trees."
"Where?" Tui said, "Oh wait, I see it."
The hall was heavily barricaded, a looming brick structure that was obviously past its glory days.
"I used to have such admiration for this building," said Tui, "with the large pillars, and the beautiful gardens."
"Scorched."
Tui knitted his eyebrows. Anxious, he walked up to the large double doors and knocked.
He hears no respond from the door, so he slowly opens the door without a sound and swiftly bolts inside and does a quick 360 scan. Nothing is in here. "It's clear," Tui announced to Benny. Benny walked inside with a small limp, Tui noticed it but thought nothing of it seeing as he was in worse shape. They checked the front lobby then into the police room. They found a small safe that Tui suspected a gun would be nessled in. Benny approached the safe, inspected it quickly, and checked a nearby desk. He returned with a pen, post-it notes, a battery and some wires from a computer on the desk. He did some electrical magic and started a quick flame on the post it notes. Tui noticed that the sticky part of the notes were flammable! Benny popped the battery open with his Swiss Army Knife and leaked some juice onto the lock part of the safe. He lit the liquid with the post-it notes and there was a slight sizzling sound than a loud crack as the safe door blew open and fell of it's hinges! Inside a mint condition standard police M9 Beretta Handgun! "Score!" Benny exclaimed. They both high fived and then heard a strange grumbling/growling noise outside...to be continued...
(sorry Benny for stealing yer story but I thought it was good so I continued it :D please don't be mad)
(hehe, it's alright underscore, just maybe put yourself in there too, make it more interesting ;))
Grabbing the handgun, Benny peered around the frame of the door.
Tui retrieved the battery and still-smoldering post-it. He inspected the flaming slip of paper, shrugged, then took the rest of the pad from the desk and shoved it in his pack.
More moaning came from outside. Benny flicked off the M9's safety. Tui pulled out his saw, poured some battery fluid on its blade, and touched the burning post-it to the liquid. Fire erupted along the tool, consuming the small note and licking Tui's hand. "Awesome," he said.
Benny gestured for Tui to come to the door. "There's something out there," he whispered.
"Shoot it, then. You have a gun." Tui hefted his saw and stepped into the hallway.
"Wait!" Benny began to say, but Tui shut him up with a "Shhh!". Tui leaped around a corner, and Benny saw a flash of orange as his companion swung his saw at an unseen foe. A moan and a thump followed.
"Benny?" said Tui. "You better come and see this."
