This is the world of Acania!
Acania is a Minecraft Beta server hosted by me.

The goal of Acania is to give people a place to build creatively in a setting and maybe even have some fun with ranks and jobs.
Currently the server is down, but I am taking suggestions for jobs that could exist in Acania.
Once the server is launched, I will set a user limit, but as I move up hosting-wise, I will slowly get a larger amount of users that can be on at the same time.
Pictures will be up as soon as the server is up.
But in the meantime, register on the forums and maybe talk a bit.

After much thinking (as I plan to be the banker) I have thought of a way to protect the safes. No details (to keep it safe) but the idea is someone is given a safe number they deposit something only they know about (i.e. 3 cooked pork) The banker is the only one who knows where the safes are and when he enters into the safe-room no-one can follow him in. Only one can get in at a time. Involves quite a deal of redstone but it's good i think.

Sounds like you are ready.
A banker will be added to the list and a miner too.
However you will have to coordinate with a redstone technician (I can be one if you're worried about security) to get your system working.

May I become a farmer I know how to make a 3 level greenhouse ( I'm sure I could get a builders help ) and I'll provide food to the city and make bookshelfs and other crop-related materials. I have former experiance on ither servers and I'm guessing this is a city type server right? Well I hopw I qualify!

Yes, it is a city-type server, but the farms will be outside the walls of the main city. Not too far out though.
You don't need to do anything to qualify for farmer, so enjoy it when the server comes up!

I don't really want to be tied down in Minecraft by a specific job. Can I be some kind of wanderer? Y'know, do what I have to? Build my own house, gather own materials, etc? If not... Guard when I'm not at home? Also, can we use any skins to match our job, or should we use ones specified by you?

This server seems like its gathering quite a nice community, I would love to be a part of it. Would you consider allowing me in? My favorite things to do are; making somewhat complex minecart path,s using redstone circuits.

I was thinking of doing a western style corral where we could house the animals with a sand base and wood plank everything else.
Police Station Obviously a must, but I thought it would be nice to have a 3 story building with offices for the sheriff and a few deputies for the top 2 floors the lobby being the first floor and the cells being in the basement obviously the cells being made from bedrock.
My house i would probably do the white picket fence deal im going to be using concepts from my gf's perfect home sketch

I would love to be maybe a couple of those jobs you pick i dont really care i love hunting zombies skeletons creepers etc. I also am a pretty decent builder and few suggestions on what I should build if I were to become a builder would be a jail Houses/hotels and possibly a hospital where you can get healed or just buy/trade for food at a market. Actually i got this idea from a different server but the guards/policemen would use to torture them, (This suggestion is if you torture troublemakers too) We would use a mob spawner/put him/her in a Dungeon with nothing in his/her inventory,He/her would have to use their hands to fight the zombies (So lets say they stayed alive for however long they was supposed to stay in there)They would be a lucky sucker who can get healed and get their stuff back :I Maybe even sent to jail after being tortured would probably be for serious crimes like robbing the bank a couple of times or killing to much people etc.

I think the server is most likely down because of what Notch is doing. He is transfering the server to another server, or something along the lines of that.

Thanks verrenn for posting that for people who don't read the entire post.
Just a note that the server is down and may possibly be for a while.
However, I have found an alternate server software, and will start making it work after wiping my server computer and re-installing everything. (Don't worry, the maps will be safe.) This may take a few days and my birthday is coming up along with exam week. So I will have lots of time some days and none on other days.
Thanks for your patience and you can continue to post your rank suggestions and minecraft usernames and I will take them down.

I'm sorry to say, but due to a lack of interest, we shut down Acania a couple of weeks ago.
The forums and the server are no longer up, however if you want to complain/congratulate/send hate mail/rejoice, you can do so here.

The problem is that very few people actually showed up on the server on a daily basis, and lots of people complained about lag and other things like that.
If you can rally enough support, I will put the server back up.

i think that the server had a few too many roles and such dude i understand it is roleplay, but there was too many roles for such a new server.

Hey, this sounds really great but "Technician" don't have many tasks... What if they could co-operate with the engineers sometimes? They help out with the easy engineering part and then do the "redstone job" while the Engineer does the hard engineering part.
