hey guys new to the forum so hello everyone *waves*
i have been trying to change the blocks to others using the program Cheat engine, as told by the hacking page on the minecraft wiki, but im getting nowhere with it, it tells me to place a block in the the first UI slot which i guess is the far left of the bottom bar, then do the search for it using its value (in this case 1) then change the block to another, do a next search then repeat the first one and i should get some address values, yet i get nothing, i have tried this on the ALPHA game type in browser and downloaded, i believe that is trying to edit java.exe and minecraft.exe.
ANY help with this would be very appreciated, what am i doing wrong?

Mmmm i never tryed cheat engine for minecraft but in other game youd better to have more value i mean try having like 10 block before trying with cheatengine start at 10 then drop 2 then take 1 tehn drop 4 etc and it should work cause if you keep doing 1,0,1,0,1 it wont work since there is way too many value with those number

How about do it the easy way and use INVEdit or MineEdit, found on the official forums.

invedit doesnt work with smp and neither does mineedit.
so does anyone have a link to another program that can change the blocks? id loves u fo-evr :D

Its not supposed to work with SMP, just search around for one that works if you want to cheat in SMP.
