Can I disable multiplayer?

I have a young son who enjoys playing Minecraft, but I don't want him playing multiplayer mode. Is there something I can do to disable or remove the Multiplayer button - some profile setting I can change?

If you have an anti-virus
If you have an anti-virus software like Norton or anything that has it's own firewall, just go add minecraft.net to the blacklist. I think you can also go into the Windows Firewall under the control panel, and under Exceptions, uncheck and or delete Minecraft.

neils, my issues with multiplayer ARE the 1/10 people who aren't really nice, and the swearing. Is there a list of these servers somewhere where swearing is censored?

there should be some way to block the server list so your son wont be able to start playing on multiplayer...
but why dont you want him to play multiplayer? there are some really good servers like World of Minecraft Realms where (9/10) of the people are really nice and swearing is automaticly censored
