Can't create my own server

from the download at minecrafts website. I run it, and get
a bunch of txt files labeled: admins banned-ip banned players and server.
Am I screwed?

For some reason it wont let me host a MC Classic Server and I really want to so if you could tell me how to I would be very grateful

Also using the World of Minecraft client I can't run single player. Does anyone know where I can find a minecraft classic client that works for single player in which u can save the game with hacks?
