I run the minecraft thing that you download, i log in, then it goes to a black screen for a bit, after the black screen i get a bluish screen with writing and the writing says

yea im having the same kind of problem, the screen just goes black and stays that way. ive tryed restarting pc but it just wont work. i updated drivers for another game a while back so maybe uninstall drivers? i dont know.

Quite simple. You're likely using Windows 7. I'd suggest upgrading to Windows Vista [It's not downgrading!] or Windows XP. If you do not know how to, seek help from your local computer geek, then thank him by offering him/her a cookie.

Curious what the point of switching to Vista is? Vista is the predecessor to Windows 7. I run Windows 7 x64 and Minecraft runs fine. Please state WHY a switch to Vista would be the solution. Your statement has no resolution in it.

VERDICT:
Between XP and Vista, XP would be better for basic systems whereas Vista would be good for more features, but fortunately 7 wins hands down. Microsoft have learnt from their mistakes, acknowledging that this would fix Vista, and we all know that something broke if even the developer acknowledges it. Face the facts, Nokie. They're right here. :P

This may be no help at all but have you tried uninstalling the game then reinstalling it?
