Can't modify lib folder in World of Minecraft client 1.6.6

I tried to download the .jar file for the new client and i received an error that the /java/lib folder can not be modified. I dug into the package contents myself to se what was up and when I tried to manually put minecraft.jar in the lib folder, it wouldn't let me. Help?

i cant fly on the servers when im on the World of Minecraft program i type the bookmark and the URL and when i click on Go it says Minecraft.net returned incomplete server details Missing: Server IP,Server Port,User,passcode                                                                      Do you wish to Retry of Quit?      

                                               Retry          Quit
And i click on retry and nothing again and again Minecraft...
Please update other gameclient.       I am on Windows

More trouble

Update: After exploring some of the permissions in Terminal, I found that not only am I not able to modify the lib folder, but I can't modify the contents folder either, or any subfolder beyond that , even by using a sudo command. This seems like a pretty big issue, is anyone else having problems?
