The contest has now ended, thank you to all who took part, results expected 9th/10th January.
Every person in the contest gets one 39x39 plot. These will work like the shops in the new world, just right click the sign and the plot will be claimed for you. You can build as high as you want in your plot, but remember that it isn't just a competition of who can build the highest, if something is too repetative, the judges will get bored of it.
Almost anything is allowed in the contest (redstone and pixelart included), but it has to follow a christmas theme (Kinda in the name of the competition :P)
A few items like eggs and potions have been disabled as we decided that they did not add that much to any building, but could cause serious server lag if everyone decides to go crazy with them.
Beacons have also been disabled as we do not want skylights everywhere and random beacon effects as we move around.
There are no teams, everyone does their own build.
Rules:
- Normal server rules apply, and normal server punishments will be given out.
- No trying to change any blocks outside of your area, If you do, you will be removed from the contest.
- Please no trying to shoot/throw things out of your area, that is just annoying to other people who are trying to build.
To get to the Contest world, just type: /comp.

Mobs are not allowed to be spawned so no Iron Golem.
Also we are looking into the Item Frame problem and should be simple to fix :)

I'm sure if you asked someone on the Contest world, they would have told you where the plots were. In any event, you could have also asked a staff member to make you one

I set up a new warp inside comp world called /warp comp2 This is closer to the new plots I made and will make you fly less :P
As of this post, there are 12 new plots, bringing the plot count up to 73!

Can someone please stop it from snowing over my build! I have effects/designs that are ruined when a layer is snow falls over the build! I don't wont to have to go on on the 29th JUST to clear snow. Neither do I want to have to place a glass cover over the top of my creation.
I don't mind the stuff falling, just stop it from actualy 'landing' and placing Snow on the ground.

The biome change was requested by me to stop leaves (and other things in case of texture packs + optifine) from looking differen't at one side of the entry
The actual snow exists to add a more christmas-ey feeling to the entries, if you really dislike it you can always light up the top of your entry enough so the snow will melt, or have a glass plate at the top layer of the map to prevent it from falling in general

I have been on holiday for the week, and unable to get on the server, I just logged on now and I see some really cool builds, also, I had no idea that we have this many people on the server.

Can't we just turn weather off for the whole map? Rain/Snow anything. If someone wants a snow layer on there build they can leave what's there or just put snow in all the places they want it. But everyone who doesn't want snow shouldn't have to clear it off and put a layer above their build.

You could also use world edit, and select the contest squares that the user wants to have snow on it, and set it as a snow biome...that way it won't bother everyone else...

Due to some 'complications' with the competition world and how the permissions are working, we will need to be ending the competition slightly early.
It will now be ending on December 26th at 12:00 midday GMT.
Hopefully everyone should have enough time to finish their builds, or at least have them looking good in that time.
After the contest is closed, we will allow 2 weeks for all of the judging to be done, then the winners will be announced on the 9th/10th of January.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience to people who are still trying to build, but the system we have in place for the competition world is throwing a few problems at us and we really can't keep it going as it is. Hopefully we can learn from mistakes this time and have a better working competition next time :D

In my build is a cart track that plays jingle bells. i put up a sign for the judges because the cart may disappear. Dont know what else to do about it tho.

Thank you everyone who joined in, of which there were a lot more than any of us expected :D
We have set aside a space of 2 weeks to allow all of the judges to find enough time to rate all of the builds and the results will be coming out on the 9th/10th of January.
Sorry for the annoying change in timings for the end of the building, but I now honestly have no idea which bugs are fixed and which are not, so I feel that it is better to have people annoyed at me, than exploiting or breaking the system :P
