Hey guys,
I jusdt purchased my VPS and I have been following a couple of tutorials on how to get minecraft set up with my VPN. I am using CentOS 5. If someone could help me from start to finish I would be VERY greatful. (I can give you ops on my server!)
Thanks,
Kush
First of all when I unzip Minecraft-Server there are no files like server.properties, admins.txt etc.
If I skip that step and try and launch the server. I get somethingabout java not being found.
It sounds like you need to install Java on the server first.
I had the same problem the other day when I tried to run the server on my old Ubuntu machine.
Some instructions to install Java on CentOS can be found at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS and http://chrisschuld.com/2008/10/installing-sun-java-on-centos-5-2/
I'll try this out!
No, java is still not installed I'm guessing. whenever i type in
java -version
I get an error saying java is not a recognised command.
Hmm, sounds tricky. Installing Java on Fedora and Ubuntu was incredibly easy. Downloaded CentOS and running in a virtual machine to see if I can help more.
Alright, do oyu want to teamviewer with me? I trust you to control my computer..
do you have MSN or gtalk or something I can add you on?
Well, I'm probably even less experienced than you are, just interested as I plan on having my own Minecraft server soon.
Thats fine, if I have someone to work with maybe they can catch something that I missed.
Rather strange, I finally managed to get the live cd of CentOS 5.5 working and it looks like Java is preinstalled. Possibly this is due to a minimalistic install on your server, however I am curios as to which version is installed.

I got your PM, but what errors are you getting?
