Creating a Server- Failed to load Main-Class attribute from minecraft-server.jar

Okay, so I downloaded the software from the Minecraft multiplayer page, extracted it, and ran the "start server" Batch file. When I run the minecraft-server.jar file it sows the whole "Failed to load Main-Class from ..." stuff. I have no idea what to do next, lol.
I think I have the most recent Java, 1.6.
I'm running on Windows 7, 32-bit, but I'm not sure if I have 32 or 64 Java

I should also mention that I'm trying to do this for the classic version, not Beta. The multiplayer page I mentioned is the classic server list.
