I hear people criticize the ALU projects because they'll be so slow in redstone. Really, it'll take you a while to get to the answer area anyway, plus seeing the bits move around is fascinating to watch.
Besides, it's an *ALU* made from redstone! 32 bits even! Most of us have enough trouble just getting a door lock to work :P
Hope someone out there is drawing up plans for a full CPU in redstone.
