Failed to connect to my OWN Minecraft Server??

I am trying to make a server to play with my youtube subscribers, but I can't connect to my server.

I did all the port forward things. I even checked to see if the port was open and it was. But whenever I turn on the server and try to join I get the same thing: Failed to connect to the server... Connection timed out: Connect..
Is there any way to fix this?

are you typing localhost as the ip ingame when you try to connect?

do you use hamachi? if so it needs to be turned off
