I would recommend you do not use internet explorer and that you use a better browser like firefox or google chrome. I.E can be very glitchy and very slow and it gave me nothing but trouble.

You could also try downloading the game on another computer account, or, completely getting rid of the .minecraft and try then.

That should work.
