Hey all, I would like to ask if anybody can help me start up my own Minecraft server.

I read a guide and it said to port forward the port listed in README, so I enabled the port in windows firewall settings. I started the server, then it said the link was in externalurl. I follow the URL in exturnal URL and it gives me the message saying that the server is down.

Any help with this would be gladly appreciated.

re

First up, you cant visit the externalurl from the machine that is hosting the server.

You need to go to http://minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=127.0.0.1&port=25565

If that doesn't work, check back.

RE

You probably have a router that's blocking it. To get it to forward it go to http://portforward.com/ to find out how to.
