HELP! World of Minecraft CLIENT ISNT WORKING

i downloaded the World of Minecraft client correctly and i was able to use it before but now i cant =(
when i log in, it takes like 5 minutes to either show the serverlist or to say "could not load server list. going singleplayer" i REALLY want to play with the client.
SOMEONE ANY ONE PLEASE HELP ME
