How do I add a server or find out the url?

Let's assume the host IP is XXXXX:2338, how do I play that server in the World of Minecraft client? The World of Minecraft client currently requires me to put in some url that I don't know what is

Yes you put the hosts IP in the URL, and the port is just about always going to be 25565 as that is the default port.
I only used 2338 because you said that was the port in your first post. If you still don't get it just PM me the IP address or tell me here and I'll put it into the URL for you.

hey, i just set up a server, to connect to my server, i tried this:
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=<my ip>&port=25565
this works pretty well
HOWEVER, my friends cannot access this address, so they tried this:
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=<my ip>&port=25565
failed hard
what should i do???
