Their picture probably was a gif but it might have been too big.
The site will auto resize any image bigger than 85x50 it will break the animation after resize. Also the site will not allow any upload larger than 40kB.
If you link me to the image I can resize it properly and have it animated on the website.

I've tried this before too. I have a feeling that normal members can't have gif images as profile pictures. I don't really know of any that do.

Jupiter_Ginger you are wrong, Sk1lz is not staff and has an animated flag for his avatar.
Brooke, the reason the Jolteon didn't work was because I resized it for your SIGNATURE, not your avatar. You wanted the Pikachu to work so I resized it correctly.
