How do I get the play.jsp?server=### url for my server?

Hey all,
I'm trying to join my friends server with the World of Minecraft client and I can't figure out how to connect to it.
I have the IP address, which is what I use to connect with the standards minecraft multiplayer client, but I can't figure out where/how I get a play.jsp?server=### address for it.
I tried the http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=<IP>&port=<port> but it doesn't work.
I changed it to play.jsp?ip=<ip>&port=<port> and it started to connect, but the connection fails every time.
I opened the URL in the browser and at the top of the Minecraft browser client it says in red letters:
"You can't connect to the server via this URL anymore!"
How do I connect to his server?!?!?!?

they changes server= to ip=
but that wont' be enough. it will tell you you don't have User and Passcode
not sure the params for that
i tried username= and user= but those dont' work
as for the passcode, the instructions on this forun to find it don't work, the parameter MPPASS no longer exists in the page source of the minecraft.net version

hey guys how do i join http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=<IP>&port=<port>? in online? at first i can play with friends and now i cant play online but can play offline(Lan).. like i in a island and no people... but the block is work tho.... its kind of bored playing offline..... i want play back online with my friends

The answer
Have your friend go to the folder his server files are on. There should be a file named "externalurl.txt", have him open it. It has the url that you have to follow.
