How do I use lava and water in World of Minecraft maps? (I'm really a noob)

I've been seeing a lot of lava and water pasted around in the World of Minecraft servers. These aren't from rivers, or natural water sources. Do I need to be a higher rank before I can use it? Please help.

You cant use /lava and /water in Vanilla Server.

You don't have to be a builder to place lava/water. I've tested it on World of Minecraft: Main and World of Minecraft: Citybuild servers, but should work on all servers.

type /lava or /water then place rock (rock is the first block you have when you open the list whith B do not confound whith stone)
