So, im sure a lot of you have had problems recently with a random update from Java when opening the client. A lot of people cant run the client, and its an easy fix. To fix it, just reinstall the minecraft.jar from the Custom Client download page, and then replace the old minecraft.jar in the "lib" folder of your client, then run. It should work fine now :).
It worked for me.
Thanks!
I've tried this multiple times and it doesn't work.
It worked fine for me, thanks.
re installed and replaced it with a new one same error
If it doesn't work, you need to delete the minecraft.jar, clear your %temp% folders on your computer and clear the Java cache. It works fine.
it didn't work for me, in fact it made it worse. when i deleted the minecraft.jar file and redownloaded it, it said it couldn't find the minecraft.jar file in the lib folder.
Did you clear both caches beforehand?
Worked perfectly fine
where do i download the minecraft.jar ?
You said " Custom Client download page ", but where is that ?
Find it.
Deleted all in "%temp%"
replaced the minecraft.jar in folder Lib
Works fine!
ty
You just have to replace the minecraft.jar file in the lib folder with the new one. Dont redowload everything.
How do I download the new minecraft.jar file? Where from?
Alright guys, to sum this up for ANYBODY who may still be having these problems, I still cannot fix it. This is what i've tried:
- replacing minecraft.jar in the lib folder
- redownloading the World of Minecraft client + minecraft.jar file
- clearing Java cache
- updating Java
It just doesn't work! Still getting the same error: "Could not find the main class: Main". Somebody really needs to fix this, like, today. Thank your for listening to my rant and good luck everyone.
I have 3 computers that this is on. Same solutions tried and still getting the same error on all of them.
I found it and replaced it, It works!
It worked great! Don't know why, but it did! ;D Thanks!
Where is the download page for the minecraft.jar file?
Here's the link to it. It's just on the downloads page of the Minecraft site.
http://www.minecraft.net/download/Minecraft.jar?v=1292886607847
what are caches?
A cache is part of a program that remembers particular settings and parts of a webpage or application, in this case the Java based World of Minecraft application. Here's a link on how to clear it out:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml
My problem is, and maybe i'm just stupid, but you're saying to replace the old .jar in the lib folder of the original client downloaded from minecraft.net but I don't even know where that is. I open minecraft with winrar and theres no lib folder in there, in fact I can't find it anywhere. The only time I ever have a lib folder is from downloading the custom client from this site.
InvisiblePerson, you need to put more info, which cache to delete?
that's the lib folder you're looking for.
i cleared out the cache like the link said to do but it still won't work.
Ok, well now you're in the same place as me. And just reply to responses; It's a whole lot easier to keep track of messages that way. Anyways, I'm holding out on somebody to come out with a fix-all solution or for the devs to release a new version of World of Minecraft. I'd say just sit tight for now.
SAME HERE!!! SOMEONE FIX THIS THE RIGHT WAY! THIS DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!!
I can't find another way to fix this; the way you have here doesn't work. This is what worked for me: Follow the directions here, but before you open it, turn off your internet connection. Open it, reenable internet, then hit switch. After that, it should work.
It worked for me thanks! People need to make sure that they delete any of the old minecraft jar files before they download it again.
mine says could not find the main class: Main. program will exit
Uh, to all you guys who couldn't make it work with the above instructions try this one (Windows only, don't ask me anything about mac/linux/whatever):
1. Put minecraft.jar in your lib folder
2. Rename it to something else. (Let's say, minecraft2)
3. Right click on run.bat, click on Edit.
4. Replace all the minecraft.jar you see in the file with the name you put on the jar file in lib folder. (In this case, you would replace with minecraft2.jar)
5. Save it and close, then run the run.bat
It will show the update thing again, but it will access the renamed minecraft.jar instead of the new downloaded one.
where i get that old minecraft file???(still same problem)
WoM Coins: -1
It still doesn't work for me!
