I had same issue then i fixed it.
right click the World of Minecraft.exe and click compatibility tab
then set compatibility mode to windows xp service pack 3 apply and you readyalso remember you need the minecraft.jar file you can get that here:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
then place it in the lib folder
please ready the post above i don't understand peoples reaction to posts i do sometime, thank you!
i can't get it to work on my friends PC he's got windows 7 64, and it won't open.
If i'm not mistaken they've fixed it now. I just logged on today, realized I had to get the .jar again. Found out they made a new one, downloaded it, and had no problems at all. It even got the minecraft.jar file by itself. There's been a few spoofs here and there where a world will be loading on someone's server, and it'll freeze up with a white screen, but that's it.
I installed client yesterday all working fine then when i installed 32-bit java to try and get a server using minecraft-server.jar bam its all f***ed up and does nothing :( tried this fix and the same thing happens...ntohing. :/
