Hi everyone,
im haveing a realy inoying error with my World of Minecraft client...
everytime i login it says 'cannot receive server list, going single player'
Now, i know my login credituals are correct, AND i have replaced the .jar file 3 times and i have even started from scratch with a new World of Minecraft client folder.
And ever since minecraft ''migrated'' (as i heard from their facebook page)
i cant go to www.minecraft.net, instead i have to goto minecraft.net (without www)
-example ;
here
here
Im not sure if its my computer or router or what but i thought that the client might be trying to get the server list from ''www.minecraft.net/server'' but it obiously cant get it from that link because i needs to be ''minecraft.net/server'' (without www)
so if anyone can tell me how to edit where the client gets the server list from or help me be able to connect to the ''www.minecraft.net'' server that would be amazing
thank you!!!!!!
Assuming you are on windows.....
Open a command prompt.
Press the start button on your taskbar and goto 'Run", type 'cmd' and press enter.
If 'Run' doesn't appear on your start menu, then navigate to the folder 'Accessories' and then choose 'Command Prompt'.
When you've got that black window open type this and press enter.
ipconfig /flushdns
See if you can get to minecraft.net after that.
Poita-
Press the start button on your taskbar and goto 'Run", type 'cmd' and this time hold down control while you press enter.
If 'Run' doesn't appear on your start menu, then navigate to the folder 'Accessories' and then right-click 'Command Prompt' and 'Run as Administrator'.
When you've got that black window open type this and press enter.
ipconfig /flushdns
See how that goes.
That worked, successfully flushed the DNS but rather than working finally I got the same error:

You need to re-download the minecraft.jar and put it in your womclient/lib folder.
Download from :
https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
Keep a copy of it somewhere because you will likely need to copy it back in there quite a few times as womclient tries to update. (annoying)
But I'll tell you now, don't expect alot of success with this as womclient is behaving very randomly at the moment. But give it a try.
Poita70 , i flushed the dns, yet i stil cant access 'www.minecraft.net' only 'minecraft.net'
As i siad in the first post, i beleave that the client to attempting to gain the server list from ''www''. is there anyway i could change that, or even what you sudgested before....which is getting my computer to accept ''www'' once again. thanks
Ok Squirt, try this.
In Firefox's menu goto Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Remove Individual cookies. Look for anything that says minecraft in the list and delete them.
If you have any bookmarks to the minecraft site from previos, delete those too.
Exit out of the menus and see if you can get there now.
If you can, make a new bookmark.
Hope it works :)
GAY, it didnt work. i even tryed loading it on Chrome which had be restored to default.
im guessing its got to be somthing to do with my network.
Still if you could find a fix where i am able to change the minecraft.jar file settings so it get the list from ''minecraft.net......'' and not ''www.minecraft.net.....''
thanks

Fixed this Stupid Error, i was correct in the fact that my computer wouldnt get the list due to the link being a 'www.minecraft.net/list or whatever) so i re-installed java and minecraft and clients. and it now works. however i got the updating error, easy fix = download the .Jar file again.
thanks
