So ever since the new update came out - as in 1.8, I haven't been able to connect to my own minecraft server. I know this is because I am on the same local network or public ip which causes me to use at the end of my url &override=true
This is due to Minecraft.net changing the protocol.
Remove allow-override and setup your server.properties and config to these parameters....
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Server.properties#Classic_Keys
So ive changed my server to not check names but now when I try to connect to any server, I get this message: org.owjgl.LWJGLExeption: could not bind dummy context...
Same problem, no "&override=true" and server.properties is configured. I'm running fCraft for the server. I cannot play on that machine, while it has loads of CPU power, its GPU amounts to nothing and only adds heat. Still cannot join my own server even with configured server.properties. In the days I've lost ability to be online, I've lost most of my player base. Yell at Notch.
You need to do this - example:
http://www.minecraft.net/classic/play/87112966523396e0fbf1b8e7c10d67e9?override=true
Good luck.
My server was originally running on fcraft.
After a couple of goes the url wouldn't pop up.
So i got Alienator142 to help me make a new server. You
will probably need to download MCforge software, click this link for the main page www.MCforge.com.
i hope this helps you facepalmed,

I have the same problem. World of Minecraft versions before 2.0.1 worked, but it said "you cannot use this software (Odd0002)" and so hacks were disabled. However World of Minecraft does connect to my server from the computer hosting the server.
Probably not important info:
Server local IP = 192.168.1.105
Computer trying to connect IP = 192.168.1.103
Server name = Netbook Muffin Server
