I use the default keys to move (WASD) and it wont let me walk anywhere..

Controls or keyboard
Maybe your controls on your Minecraft have been configured to the arrow keys. Or other keys, I don't know. But try going to Options and changing the keys. Or, your keyboard might be broken or somehow incompatible with Minecraft.
