I don't know how many people care, but I miss the old World of Minecraft. Where there was a big flatgrass map and everyone was able to see each others creations without going into someone's "Realm."

it would definitely be a nice addition, if the freebuild itself was like builder+ (for random grief reasons) and certain completely trusted players could be granted to admin by staff, so we can get some minor moderation going, would that be an idea?

I would LOVE for a massive map on Realms, just like old times. I miss it just as much as most people. Like previously stated I wouldn,t mind looking after the map for minor grief etc. I hope this does happen! :D

I dont think that would be a good idea, as there are as not as many as arch+ than the rest of Realms, and it would be exclusive (just like /project) which I see as a bad thing as it is not including everyone and can be seen as elitist to some extent.

I would say surveyor+, reason being as builder isn't that hard to get. So it would require more effort for any new member to try to get surveyor. Anyhow, this is a great idea and I hope it happens.

I don't think that it should be exclusive to high ranks, but like ryan said, it should be available to surveyor+.

Well, I've never experienced the "old" World of Minecraft but I guess it would be fun for a lot of people, exept the ones with not high enough of a rank (me) :(

If it was builder+ it would mean more people taking part, and even could mean that more people would play on the server, which either way is a good thing.

you could make multiple freebuild realms for different ranks, like 1 for builder+, 1 for surveryor+, 1 for tech+......
also, each freebuild could have a special pixel art area on one of the sides so that we are not mixing pixel art with the landscaped area
and roland, even though you can tell who griefed, it is still annoying that you have to fix it. you couldnt do a rollback because many other people will have been building in that time
although i sadly never got to experience the 'old' World of Minecraft, i think i have an idea of what it was like and i think that the freebuild realm is a really good idea

I agree with Jak2131. I think that there should be multiple freebuilds. Lowest rank for a freebuild, in my opinion, should be Surveyor. Then there is one for Designer, and on and on. And also like Jak, I haven't experienced the "Old" World of Minecraft. If anyone could get some nice ss's of it, I would be very appreciative to you. And about what Skyara said, I think that you should be granted to build in the freebuilds. You get granted by what you build in your realms. Like, a voting system or something. I don't care if anyone criticizes my ideas, SHNAW, but still. In my opinion, that would be one of the top ideas to collaborate on.

the admins on the 'old' realm would look at your main realm to see what your building skills are like, they could then grant you (build) for the correct realm
then if you are judged to be a good builder, the admins could grant you advanced and you could get more privileges

Take some notes from other freebuilds, we use a rank system to seperate user levels for each level.
I wouldn't say generated landscape is any good for a freebuild (personal experience). You need more than just a 'undo', you need a museum for previous level saves, and a block informatiom cmd (/about on MCForge/lawl)
All of this would work better on a seperate server imo.

Kevin is right. A freebuild for everyone who is member, with the same layout as old World of Minecraft:Main with guest area for guests. Then a massive landscaped area with walls around it for pixel art etc. Pretty much, just like World of Minecraft:Main. Also, there could be a new moderating system put in that those trusted would be put to admin for mini-moderating of the map so the moderators would not constantly have to deal with the grief etc of the map.

Omg, Roland, that post felt like someone just punched me with a fistful of nostalgia D; I miss it! Lol, I might sound gay, but I sometimes had a friend come over and we'd play on the same account on different computers (before Notch fixed it to know one person was already playing) and we'd stay up all night drinking sweet tea. xD It was fun. Nothing but Minecraft.

Lol, Realms is doing fine. As long as there are still people playing it will most likely still stay up. You also need to take into account that you could be checking at different times in the day which may lead to your results as inaccurate.

Well, I was around for World of Minecraft: Main but I only went on it once, my brother and his friends used to play it a little and it looked pretty good, I completely agree with Kevin that a freebuild is only a freebuild if everyone is actually free to build. Maybe you could introduce a little bit of a rank system area by making a bit of a World of Minecraft: Realms system, where you can choose to build with people of your own rank, I agree this would bring a lot of grief, but hey, as much as it is annoying, classic and freebuild come hand in hand! After all, I'm not condoning grief at all but the map would have to be reset pretty often anyway as people love building huge structures that fill huge areas of the map in freebuilds which of course is completely allowed, so people shouldn't be too sentimental with their creations, once you've had fun building it, let it go! I also feel World of Minecraft should introduce more servers than World of Minecraft: Main, though I'm not expecting it all at once, maybe a zombie survival, or lava survival? Or maybe we could think of something completely new? After all there are a lot of freebuilds already out there and one of the main reasons World of Minecraft: Realms is so successful is because it has something different that gives it the edge over every other server, and we should continue that. If World of Minecraft: Main was to return it would of course need a lot more OPs, so you could maybe introduce a system like Blocktopia for example, they have Trusted, OP, VetOP and Head Controllers which could work pretty well, you could maybe introduce a system like I think you used to where players that felt they were trusted and ready could apply for ranks which always make players that aren't even ranks be a little more mature as everyone is wanting to become ranked. Maybe you could think about it?

Ever since realms came up I could not connect with anyone on a large scale, even though there is multiple areas to see others and see their creations ect.... There is no base for anything, and after a certain period of time, it just becomes somewhat useless. I still know what you mean Lunick :)

how about you just bring back a different server with the ranks transferred (simple programming) and let surveyor + build and a different map for different ranks to prevent higher ranks building on the lower rank maps. You could also implement the idea of a completely different rank system just for the fun of it and have a site like World of Minecraft realms

A freebuild is for everyone to build. k. What this post is about how people want the old World of Minecraft back eg World of Minecraft:Main. Not a different server where it is surv+. World of Minecraft:Main is what is wanted back.

One thing i have experienced with World of Minecraft:Realms.
For new players og young players, it can be difficult for them to figure out how the system works, but that can be because they don't read things or just a bit young to understand, most learn it fast.
It was easier with the old system. I don't say that i want the old World of Minecraft back, but i miss it of course :)
The rep/rank hysteria takes of sometimes, i don't like that.
I have to say that Realms was a pretty good idea:) I like that we can have a own map to build on.
About the freebuild idea. I dont see the point, bacause the server is already a freebuild :) I dislike the /freebuild options. Open for all to build makes it griefers paradise.
The best thing about Realms is that you have to grant ppl to build on your realm. Old World of Minecraft had to be moderated almost all the time, and and that was a lot of work.

Hmmm. First off, If you guys all remember how main worked, you could have areas protected if you asked a moderator/admin. Secondly, Obviously the guest area is going to get griefed as it's not protected. Thirdly, Realms is better, and more efficient to run/handle compared to the old main software. I agree it would be nice to have one massive freebuild realm, but I think I would prefer realms over main considering it was just annoying to handle things on the old software. And keep in mind, developing realms was probably not easy, so I hope we are all appreciative of what the owners have done to develop World of Minecraft:Realms.

Most of us know that classic will most likely be hidden on nov 11th...
To be honest, I think a :Main inspired CREATIVE server is the best idea right now.
Of course, moderation will be a lot more needed.
But, we are World of Minecraft, why shouldn't we be able to do this?
Yes, the start will be a little hard and chaotic, but with classic not populated anymore, the SMP will have to be free to enter/signup required.
I think we can and *should* do this, yet this is not mine to decide.

I have spoken with triddin about this, we are going to work something out. However; I have an idea as you all make some valid points. My only concern is finding the time and the right moderators to help police it.
I'm not saying it will be done this week, but I hope we can implement it sooner, rather than later.

I agree, I do miss the old World of Minecraft servers (there used to be 4 going at once). It was way more fun to staff too because of all the guests and it was harder.
Realms has been going since the start of this year and is special in it's own little way and is they way of the future :P
