Hello everybody. I was thinking today that Minecraft is about exploration. To go out into the world with nothing and to build a place for yourself. Some of us do it close to spawn, where we have the benefit of a compass to guide us back, and some of us go far out, where dying could be a serious pain. That's why I suggest something I've thought of for a while (I haven't come up with a name yet, so I'm open to suggestions, but I'm calling it the 'specific compass' for now).

I'm thinking of two executions, but first the specific compass would be crafted like so:

I RS I

LD I LD

(I'm new, so I don't know what the accepted format is, but basically LD stands for light dust found in the nether, I being iron, and RS being red stone on the 3x3 grid)

This would create a compass that, no matter where you are (Nethers excepted) it points back to exactly where you crafted it.

The second would be a craftable block (I'm just calling the 'compass block' for convenience):

*Edit*: Forgot to mention S stands for stone, with RS still standing for redstone.

After crafting that block and placing it, your specific compass would point right at the compass block.

That way, no matter where you spawn initially, you can always find your way to that cool place you found on your last excursion. Anyway, that's my idea. Thanks for reading. I'd be interested to hear what you guys have to say.
